Bold autumn eye

Hey guys!

Today, I'm doing a fall look! I'm going to do several of these probably, because fall is my favorite makeup season (summer is my favorite season, period, but I prefer to be bare faced in the summer since it's so hot) and all of the different variations that are season appropriate are so fun!

This look is a dramatic winged liner with a subtle pink/mauve lip. Let's get started, shall we? (Also please please excuse these eyebrows. They were done shortly after this tutorial was done. They just wouldn't cooperate with me.)

Benefit Review

Hey guys!

Today I’m going to do a review and demo of the Benefit They’re Real Mascara and the Benefit Watt’s Up Cream Highlighter.  I recieved these for free as a part of the Sephora Beauty Insider Birthday Gift (Go sign up for sephora beauty insider, even if you don’t buy anything, you’ll get a free thing for your birthday!), and thought it’d be a good idea to review them because they are higher end products, and I know how terrifying it is to buy a high end product if it’s not guaranteed to be awesome. Obviously, what works and doesn’t work for me may be different than what may or may not work for you, so don’t yell at me in comments because there’s no such thing as a wrong opinion, etc. Let’s get into it then, shall we?

Eyebrow routine

Hey Guys!
So, if you couldn't tell from the title of this post, this is a blog all about my eyebrow routine. By no means am I an eyebrow expert, but I know a lot of people that have zero knowledge of anything eyebrow related so I thought I'd give you my basic routine, from start to finish, how I remove trim, shape, fill in, etc!

I have kind of a weird obsession with eyebrows, if I'm being completely honest. I love all shapes and sizes, groomed, not groomed, arched, no arch, tattooed on, whatever. I'm not saying that everyone should do this particular routine, this look may not tickle everyone's pickle the way it does mine, but this is what I do.

What I use:

Tweezers (e.l.f. professional), Shears (Togatta) eyebrow brush, paper towel/washcloth (or both) and ice/ice pack. I have a freezer pack but a plastic bag/paper towel with ice in it will do.

Insomnia and Face Demons: A Personal Post

This is not a beauty post. Well. Maybe it'll end up being one, but as of now I don't plan on beauty things happening here. I'm really just blogging because I can't sleep (surprise surprise) and I'd like to talk about face demons. This post may contain some feminine related TMI so I'll put the meat and potatoes of it under the cut.

But before I cut it off, for those of you who want to read but were like "I don't want to read a post that may contain TMI," I'd like to recommend an album for you, so that everyone can get something from this. I highly recommend anyone that enjoys listening to things with their ears take a gander at the Plastic Beach album by Gorillaz.

Okay, now that I've done that (I hope you guys like it it's a big favorite of mine, because it's such an eclectic mix of different genres all meshed into one album).

Also ignore any cursing that happens below the cut. It's all censored with little asterisks, just to be sensitive, as I know some of you may not be into that kind of thing.

So, here goes....

My Favorite Blush of All Time

I think everyone has one holy grail product that you discover and instantly can't wait to share with people you know, and I've found one of mine! For the longest time, because I have very red undertones,  I had a hard time finding a blush that not only suited my skin tone, but was nice all around. But about two months ago, I found one! This blush is Shy Blush by Mary Kay. It retails for $12 on marykay.com

This blush is phenomenal. You can tell by the beat up packaging that I use it a lot. By "a lot" I mean every day. The color is a rosy pink that has golden undertones, so it acts as a highlighter and a blush. It's a mineral blush, but comes off very smooth and almost creamy. It appears to be glittery, but on the skin, it's far more reflective than glittery. It's very buildable, with the pigmentation fairly light, but easy to intensify.

This is a great shade for fair skin tones, but I think it could work on many others as well. I just couldn't resist sharing this awesome product with you guys!

The Best Acne Treatment!

Anyone out there that is reading this that suffers from acne knows, whether it be a spot here or there, or a full on war is being waged on your skin, that sometimes it feels like there's no way out. We go through hundreds of dollars (maybe even thousands, yikes at the prices of some higher end acne solutions!), hours of time, and many frustrating breakouts in search of the ultimate cure. The most frustrating part, for me, is that the best treatment so far for me is in my own kitchen!

I started this treatment 4 days ago and have noticed 50% less breakouts. I have sensitive, easily irritated skin. I didn't change my diet, exercise, or any other routine aside from the products I'm using.

Interested yet?

Well, my holy grail acne treatment is....

Honey and Sea Salt

This treatment is 1 teaspoon and 1/4 sea salt. My sea salt grinder is adjustable, so I like to include both smaller and larger salt grains, just make sure that they aren't particularly sharp! You don't want to scratch your face!

So, what? Still not sold? It's just a regular exfoliant that smells good, you say? What exactly is it doing to combat acne? I can't blame you for being skeptical. Really, I've been there. But, after copious research and the ol' try it yourself method, I've come up with some serious reasons as to why this scrub is for ALL skin types. Yeah, you read correctly. ALL OF THEM. Oily, dry, acne prone, sensitive, combination, and even more mature skin types.

Reasons Why Honey Rocks:
  • contains antioxidants
  • antifungal
  • antibacterial
  • calms inflammation
  • draws impurities from the skin
  • ultra hydrating
  • smells AMAZING
Okay, so you get honey. That might be worth slathering all over my face, you say. But what about salt? What's so good about salt?

Reasons Why Sea Salt Rocks:
  • exfoliates
  • absorbs toxins from skin
  • during the manufacturing process, sea water is evaporated, leaving the salt and lots of minerals behind, so it's like you're slathering minerals all over your face
  • fights infection

Do I really even need to say more?
This stuff is awesome.

Have you ever tried it? Are you going to try it now? Let me know in the comments if you have, and what your experiences are!

My Top Ten Favorite Beauty Vloggers

Hey guys, today I'd like to give you all my top ten beauty gurus. I wouldn't be where I am today without some of these people as they are a genuine inspiration to me, and have taught me so very much! Most of these youtubers do makeup tutorials, hauls, reviews, etc. but others are also fashion vloggers or real life makeup artists!

Without further ado, here is my top ten!

Thumbnail

Estee is a Canadian youtuber living in England. She doesn't do too many tutorials, but she does film many reviews, hauls, and beauty tags! She's honest, informative, and a genuine breath of fresh air.

Thumbnail

Leighann is a beauty guru hailing from Texas. She does a wonderful combination of tutorials, reviews, hauls, get ready with me videos, and gives amazing advice. Like essiebutton, she's honest, and never compromises the integrity of her content in order to make personal advancements. She has great fashion sense, a talented hand at makeup, and is an unforgettable personality.

Arden Rose is a beauty guru from the midwest USA, and is my age! She's just finished her senior year in high school but her beauty knowledge would suggest otherwise. She has a mix of hauls, reviews, and tutorials, with a few hair and fashion videos thrown in as well. She's sharp tongued in the best way, wildly entertaining, and her cat eye look is to die for.

Bunny, aka grav3yardgirl, is an American youtuber, hailing from Texas, or should I say, The Swamp? She's more of a fashion vlogger, her gorgeous OOTDs making her one of the most fashion forward women I've ever come across, and the owner of possibly the worlds largest collection of shoes, particularly her beloved Jeffery Campbells. I watch Bunny's videos when I need a laugh, and she almost always delivers.

Karissa is a Canadian living in Australia. She's filmed loads of tutorials, reviews, and lots of personal videos as well. She's truly entertaining to watch, always well informed, and while she does the occasional sponsored video, she never fails to be completely honest about the product. Also, she has the cutest video introduction on this list!

5.  emilynoel83

Emily is a (former?) newscaster and her presence on camera is a good indicator of this fact. She's bright, informative, honest, and overall entertaining to watch. I always watch he to get the best idea of what will work for me, as we have similar tastes and similar products look good on us. She's so sweet and down to earth, I always enjoy watching her videos.

4. FleurDeForce

How do I even begin to describe this gem? She's bright, sweet, down to earth, informative, honest, and a real pleasure to watch. She's just wonderful. Check out her channel, because she is truly too wonderful to describe.

3. KlairedelysArt

I'm just gonna show some pictures of her work as a description because WOW. This girl makes me ashamed to say I do makeup, because everything I do pales in comparison to this true artist.

Honorable Mentions:

There are so many amazing gurus and artists that I couldn't just pick ten. Here are a few honorable mentions.

gossmakeupartist and chloe morello

Both fabulous makeup gurus, Wayne Goss is a makeup artist. I'm not sure if Chloe Morello is or not, because I'm a new subscriber of hers, but she could be!

Also, really briefly, we can't talk about YouTube gurus without mentioning someone that is very special to the YouTube community and many outside of it.
